I think about this dusty blog often. How neglected it is. How much I enjoy capturing our simple moments together and then looking back on it months down the road. I truly grieve over all the moments I haven't written about. We will do something that I'll think to myself, I should really blog about this! And then I don't. Part of the reason I don't is because I think about all the posts that *need* to be published first and I can't post anything else till I publish those! There is just something in me that can't handle publishing things out of order... So annoying. Those unpublished posts are largely Clara's monthiversary posts. I have been keeping up with each of her months but I just haven't gotten around to uploading pictures to them. That's the another reason I haven't been keeping up with the blog. The process of picking which pictures I want in that particular post, re-sizing and/or editing them, uploading them and then moving them around to where I want them takes
foreeeeeeeever.
Or so it seems. And my last sorry excuse for not keeping up with this is the simple, cliched fact that I am a mother of three young children. None of them go to daycare or preschool so the four of us are together. All day. Every day. I don't say that as a complaint, I only mean that we are busy. We do things! We go places!
When Clara is nursing, I usually use my phone to peruse around the mommy blog circuit. I've been really enjoying and taking to heart the ones that talk about parenting deliberately. About really enjoying your kids and making memories with them. I want to get to know my children, find out their talents, get to really know what makes them them. I'm not a perfect mommy, yet, so its definitely a work in progress. But because of that, when I do have any downtime, I'm usually too brain-drained to want to try to hammer out a post. Ironically, since we do try to have fun and do things together, I probably have great blog fodder. Even just everyday life with three little ones is enough to keep this blog hopping! Like the day we made sun-catchers. Or the family day we had together. Or Heidi's ballet recital. Or the night that Nathan had us laughing so hard at dinner. Or when we have friends over. Or our art projects. Or Clara's first time to roll over. Or Jonah's potty training adventures. Or the games we like to play. Or mine and Heidi's mommy-daughter day. Or our bedtime drama. Or the time just the other day when Heidi and Clara were playing peek-a-boo for a solid 30 minutes which resulted in ear splitting little girl laughter that only a 4 yr old and an 8 mo old can produce.
I miss recording those times.
I have no grand illusions of becoming a "Mommy Blogger" or having a blog that goes viral. I just want to record these times so my children can look back on our lives as they grew up. Wouldn't it be so cool if our moms had been bloggers and recorded what we looked like, sounded like, acted like when we were 4, 2, and 8mos? Oh, I know there are scrapbooks and such but one great thing about blogs is the ability to freeze one moment. One thought. One reflection.
I do, at least, have my daily blog. That I can do from my phone in about two seconds. Thank goodness for that or I would really feel like a slacker mommy. (Its at A Daily Snapshot of Life, in case you didn't already know.)
As it goes, poor Clara has suffered from bloglessness the most. It is so true what they say about subsequent children not getting as much exposure. I steal this from one of my ACU friends (and probably one of the 3 people who read this!), she wrote this when she was pregnant with her third and Clara was about 2 months old. I totally agree!
*Note to my third born who may some day read this...I love you! I have loved you from the moment I watched that second line appear.........My love will continue to grow every minute of every day. Though there may be fewer pictures or less intricate scrapbooks please know its not because of a lack of love...its because your big brother and big sister have plum worn me out! Smooch smooch...Mama*
Plum worn out, indeed. When Clara is down for her morning nap, Heidi and Jonah and I are busy working on something or playing or reading. When she wakes up, its usually time for them to go down, and for me and her to spend time together. When they wake up, she's ready for her second nap. Then dinner prep, then bedtime for all three, then Nathan and I finally get a few moments to ourselves to catch up, watch a little TV or just veg! Again, not complaining, just stating. I love our life. I love our family. I love that we are making memories. I just hope we remember them. Maybe someday I'll get back to blogging. I do have Clara's monthiversaries to post, after all. But for now, I'll go back to trying my best to parent deliberately. And sadly, not blogging. For now at least.
Oh, and the only reason this picture-less post got done, is because for one, there are no pictures (how utterly boring!!!) and for two, it's 1:30 in the morning. My beditme is 11:30. The reason its 11:30 is because 1:30 bedtimes make me grouchy the next day so I try to avoid them! Say a little prayer for my children tomorrow as they deal with a grouchy mama. So much for parenting deliberately and making happy memories....
